Lebedinsky GOK to cut pellet shipments

Lebedinsky GOK plans to commission the 1.4mtpy №2 HBI shop operating by Midrex technology in the end of October. As a result, total HBI producing capacity of Lebedinsky GOK will reach 2.4mtpy. The project is worth $400m.
Thanks to the launch of № 2 HBI shop, volume of merchant pellets will make 5mt in 2008, while in 2007 it is planned to sell 7.2mt of pellets.
The decrease in shipments may concern both domestic supplies and exports to Eastern and Central Europe. During 9 months of 2007, the share of export in pellet supplies from Lebedinsky GOK amounted to 44% (out of that 88% was supplied to Eastern and Central Europe). Main domestic consumers are NLMK, Mechel and MMK. Main volumes of production are shipped under the long-term contracts, both for export and domestically.
